چکیده

We introduce the ActivityFlow speciication language for in-cremental speciication and exible coordination of workkow activities. The most interesting features of the ActivityFlow speciication language include (1) a collection of speciication mechanisms, which provides a workkow designer with a uniform workkow speciication interface to describe diierent types (i.e., ad-hoc, administrative, or production) of workkows involved in their organizational processes, and helps to increase the exibility of workkow processes in accommodating changes; (2) a set of activity modeling facilities, which enables the workkow designer to describe the ow of work declaratively and incrementally, allowing reasoning about correctness and security of complex workkow activities independently from their underlying implementation mechanisms; (3) an open architecture that supports user interaction as well as collaboration of workkow systems of diierent organizations.

Architectural Plan for Constructing Fault Tolerable Workflow Engines Based on Grid Service

In this paper the design and implementation of fault tolerable architecture for scientific workflow engines is presented. The engines are assumed to be implemented as composite web services. Current architectures for workflow engines do not make any considerations for substituting faulty web services with correct ones at run time. The difficulty is to rollback the execution state of the workflo...

An Adaptive Workflow Engine Based on Web Services and Agents

At present workflow management systems are widely used to manage business processes in an organization, while the workflow engine provides a runtime execution environment, manages the overall processing and execution of workflow instances. One of the major limitations of current workflow engine is the lack of flexibility to support adaptive environments. In this paper we propose an adaptive wor...

A Framework Supporting Dynamic Workflow Interoperation and Enterprise Application Integration

In this paper, we propose a framework supporting dynamic interoperation between heterogeneous workflow systems and workflow-based dynamic Enterprise Application Integration (EAI). To this end, based on Subflow Task Model and Multi-Tiered Dynamic State Transition Model, four major components are defined: The workflow engine, Adapter, Service Interface Repositories (SIRs), and XML messages. Workf...

Embedded vs. Autonomous Workflow – Putting Paradigms into Perspective

This paper distinguishes, at a high level, the differences between the architectures of workflow management systems. Its main function is to clarify the segmentation between autonomous and embedded workflow deployments. Workflow is the automation of a business process, in whole or in part, during which documents, information, or tasks are passed from one participant to another for action, accor...
